Tecno Pop X 5G
Tecno has announced its upcoming budget 5G smartphone, the Tecno Pop X 5G, in India. The company’s POP series has largely catered to entry-level users by focusing on essentials such as long battery life, large displays, and affordable pricing. With the new Tecno Pop X 5G, the brand is aiming to strengthen its presence in the competitive sub-Rs. 15,000 segment by offering a combination of battery-focused hardware, performance enhancements, and durability features.
The handset is positioned as a performance-driven option for first-time 5G users, with features like RAM expansion and network optimisation expected to play a key role in everyday usage.
The Tecno Pop X 5G is scheduled to launch in India on April 20 at 12pm. The smartphone will be available for purchase via Amazon. Further details regarding pricing, sale offers, and availability are expected to be announced closer to the launch event.
The Tecno Pop X 5G is confirmed to pack a 6,500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. While some competing models in this segment are now offering 7,000mAh batteries, the capacity here should still comfortably deliver over a day of usage under regular conditions.
On the performance front, the smartphone will support up to 18GB extended RAM, including virtual RAM expansion. This is expected to improve multitasking and app-switching performance, particularly for users who engage in gaming or run multiple applications simultaneously.
Tecno is also highlighting its USRP 3.0 technology, which is claimed to offer up to 8X improved network performance. However, real-world results may vary depending on network conditions. The device will also feature AI-powered noise cancellation, aimed at improving voice clarity during calls and online meetings.
The Tecno Pop X 5G is said to feature a sleek design with an aerospace-grade aluminium camera module. The rear camera layout adopts a horizontal bar-style design, similar to the one seen on the Tecno Pova Slim, but with separated sensor and LED flash placement.
The handset will be available in two colour options, including a blue variant and another featuring a mix of silver and green with a patterned finish.
In terms of durability, the device comes with MIL-STD-810H certification, indicating it has been tested for drops up to 1.5 metres. It also carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, which is becoming increasingly common in budget smartphones.
Based on the confirmed details so far, the Tecno Pop X 5G appears to be a balanced option for users seeking long battery life, durable build quality, and performance-oriented features in the entry-level 5G segment.
That said, key aspects such as camera performance and chipset capabilities are yet to be fully detailed. Buyers looking for proven performance or strong imaging capabilities may want to wait for complete specifications and early reviews before making a decision.
