Huawei has launched its latest flagship smartphone lineup, the Huawei Pura 90 series, in China. The new series includes three models — Huawei Pura 90, Huawei Pura 90 Pro, and Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max. The top-end Pro Max variant stands out with a 200-megapixel telephoto camera, while all models are powered by the company’s in-house Kirin 9000 series chipsets and run on HarmonyOS 6.1.
The Huawei Pura 90 price starts at CNY 4,699 (roughly Rs. 64,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB configurations are priced at CNY 5,199 (roughly Rs. 71,000) and CNY 5,699 (roughly Rs. 78,000), respectively.
The Huawei Pura 90 Pro starts at CNY 5,499 (roughly Rs. 75,000) for the 12GB + 256GB model. Its higher variants go up to CNY 7,499 (roughly Rs. 1,02,000) for the 16GB + 1TB option.
The Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max begins at CNY 6,499 (roughly Rs. 89,000), while the top-end 16GB + 1TB variant is priced at CNY 8,599 (roughly Rs. 1,17,000).
All models will go on sale in China starting April 29. There is currently no word on global availability.
The Huawei Pura 90 Pro features a 6.6-inch full-HD+ LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 460ppi pixel density. The Pro Max variant offers a larger 6.9-inch display with similar specifications. Both models are protected by Huawei’s second-generation Kunlun Glass.
Under the hood, both smartphones are powered by the Kirin 9030S chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage. They run on HarmonyOS 6.1.
For optics, the Huawei Pura 90 Pro includes a triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel macro telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom (and up to 8x optical-quality zoom), and a 12.5-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
The Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max upgrades the camera system with a 50-megapixel primary sensor featuring LOFIC technology, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with an RYYB sensor for improved low-light performance.
Both devices come with a 13-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.
Both the Huawei Pura 90 Pro and Pro Max pack 6,000mAh batteries. The Pro model supports 66W wired and 55W wireless charging, while the Pro Max offers faster 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. Reverse wired charging is also supported.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and multiple navigation systems such as GPS, NavIC, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. Both smartphones carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The standard Huawei Pura 90 comes with a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Kirin 9010S chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
The smartphone features a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12.5-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. It also includes a 13-megapixel front camera.
The device houses a 6,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with 5W reverse wired charging.
With the Pura 90 series, Huawei is clearly focusing on premium hardware, especially in the camera department. The inclusion of a 200-megapixel telephoto sensor on the Pro Max model positions it as a strong contender for mobile photography enthusiasts.
