WhatsApp Rolls Out Cross-Platform Chat Transfer, Dual Accounts on iOS
Meta-owned WhatsApp has introduced a major upgrade to its chat transfer feature, allowing seamless migration between Android and iOS devices. Users can now transfer account information, individual chats, group conversations, communities, channel updates, chat history and even call logs across platforms.
The update also ensures that media files such as photos and videos are moved along with chats, making switching devices much easier without data loss.
In a significant move, WhatsApp has brought dual account support to iPhone users. Previously limited to Android, this feature allows users to operate two separate accounts on a single iOS device.
This addition is particularly useful for managing personal and work conversations without needing multiple devices. The app also displays the active account through profile indicators for better clarity.
WhatsApp has enhanced its storage management system, giving users more control over their device space. With the new update, users can manually identify and delete large files directly from individual chats.
The “Manage Storage” option allows selective removal of media files while keeping chat history intact, helping users free up space without losing important conversations.
The platform is also integrating advanced AI features powered by Meta AI. Users can now edit images directly within chats before sending them, including removing unwanted elements, changing backgrounds and applying different styles.
Additionally, the Writing Help feature has been improved to suggest replies based on conversation context, enabling faster and more efficient messaging while maintaining privacy.
WhatsApp has confirmed that these new features are rolling out globally and will be available to all users over the coming weeks. The update aims to improve usability, organisation and cross-platform functionality for millions of users worldwide.
