Vivo’s next-generation foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 6, is already making headlines ahead of its official announcement. While the company has not confirmed its existence yet, recent leaks have revealed key specifications, hinting at major upgrades over the previous model, especially in battery capacity and camera performance.
According to the leak, the Vivo X Fold 6 could feature a dual-cell battery setup comprising 3,915mAh and 2,845mAh units, bringing the total capacity to around 7,000mAh. This would mark a significant jump from the 6,000mAh battery seen on the Vivo X Fold 5, potentially making it one of the highest-capacity batteries in the foldable segment.
In comparison, rival foldables such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 offer a 4,400mAh battery, while the Oppo Find N6 and Honor Magic V6 feature 6,000mAh and 6,600mAh batteries respectively. This positions the Vivo X Fold 6 as a strong contender in terms of battery endurance.
On the camera front, the upcoming foldable is tipped to include a 200-megapixel rear camera, along with a periscope telephoto sensor for enhanced zoom capabilities. This would be a notable upgrade over the Vivo X Fold 5, which features a triple camera setup with three 50-megapixel sensors, including a primary, telephoto, and ultra-wide lens.
The leak also hints at refreshed design elements and possible new accessories, although specific details remain under wraps. In terms of performance, the Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to be powered by a flagship chipset. Since the previous model runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the new device could arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
For reference, the Vivo X Fold 5 was launched in India in July last year with a price tag of Rs. 1,49,999 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. It features an 8.03-inch AMOLED inner display and a 6.53-inch AMOLED cover screen. The device comes with IPX8, IPX9, and IP5X ratings for water and dust resistance and supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.
Overall, the Vivo X Fold 6 appears to be shaping up as a major upgrade, particularly in battery and camera capabilities, which could strengthen its position in the premium foldable smartphone market.
