Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Leak Hints at Bigger Battery, Faster Charging and Flagship Snapdragon Chip

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is already making headlines months ahead of its expected launch. A fresh leak has revealed key hardware details, suggesting notable upgrades in battery capacity and charging speed. While the overall display setup may remain similar to its predecessor, Samsung appears to be focusing on performance and endurance improvements this time.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Expected Display and Design

According to leaks shared by tipster Anthony (@TheGalox_), the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to retain its familiar design approach. It may feature a 6.5-inch cover display and a large 8-inch inner screen. Both panels are tipped to use Dynamic AMOLED technology with a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The inner display could come with dual-layer ultra-thin glass (UTG), offering improved durability. Additionally, Samsung may introduce a laser-drilled metal support plate to further enhance structural strength.

Camera Setup Could Remain Flagship-Level

In terms of optics, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to continue with a high-end camera system. It could feature a 200-megapixel primary sensor with a large 1/1.3-inch size. The setup may also include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, keeping it competitive in the premium segment.

Performance Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The foldable is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, possibly an overclocked “for Galaxy” variant. This chip is already expected to feature in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, indicating flagship-level performance.

Samsung may also include a vapour chamber cooling system to handle intensive tasks and maintain thermal efficiency. The device is expected to offer multiple configurations, including 12GB and 16GB RAM, along with storage options up to 1TB.

Battery and Charging See a Major Upgrade

One of the biggest highlights from the leak is the battery upgrade. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is tipped to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging support. This would be a significant improvement over the 4,400mAh battery and 25W charging seen in the previous generation.

However, Samsung may still lag behind some competitors in terms of battery capacity.

Competition Offers Larger Batteries

While the upgrade is notable, rival foldables are pushing boundaries further. The Oppo Find N6 is said to feature a 6,000mAh battery, while the Honor Magic V6 reportedly houses an even larger 6,600mAh unit.

This suggests that although Samsung is improving battery life, it may still play it safe compared to other Android foldable makers.
