Ishqan De Lekhe
The Punjabi romantic drama Ishqan De Lekhe, starring Gurnam Bhullar, is showing a strong upward trend at the box office. After a steady opening, the film witnessed an impressive surge in its second weekend, putting it firmly on track to become a hit.
The film collected around ₹4 crore gross (approximately ₹3.35 crore nett) during its second weekend in India. This marks an impressive growth of nearly 85 percent compared to its opening weekend, indicating strong audience interest and positive word-of-mouth.
With the boost from the second weekend, Ishqan De Lekhe has taken its total Indian box office collection to around ₹9 crore gross (about ₹7.60 crore nett) within the first ten days of release.
The film’s steady growth suggests that it has managed to attract audiences across multiple regions and maintain a stable run in cinemas.
The movie has also performed well in overseas markets. It has collected approximately USD 525K (around ₹4.85 crore) internationally. When combined with its domestic earnings, the film’s worldwide gross stands just under ₹15 crore.
Interestingly, Ishqan De Lekhe is one of the rare Punjabi films in recent times where the domestic box office has performed better than overseas markets. In the last few years, international territories have often contributed a larger share of revenue for Punjabi films.
Another notable aspect of the film’s box office journey is its performance outside Punjab. The movie has recorded strong numbers in states like Haryana, while cities in Delhi and Rajasthan have also contributed significantly.
Industry observers believe the romantic genre of the film may have helped it appeal to audiences beyond the traditional Punjabi market, unlike many Punjabi comedies that mainly perform within the state.
Despite its strong momentum, Ishqan De Lekhe will soon face tough competition from the upcoming film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which is expected to take up a large number of screens.
This could limit the theatrical run of the Punjabi film in the coming weeks. However, if it manages to retain a reasonable number of shows in its third week, it still has a good chance of reaching the ₹15 crore mark or even surpassing it.
If the current trend continues, Ishqan De Lekhe is likely to emerge as a hit at the domestic box office. The Punjabi film industry has been waiting for a successful theatrical performer after a relatively difficult year.
With several promising Punjabi films scheduled for release later this year, the success of Ishqan De Lekhe could help restore confidence in the market and set the tone for upcoming releases.
