The much-awaited fantasy action entertainer Karuppu, starring Suriya, is already making headlines ahead of its release. As per a report by Pinkvilla, the film has reportedly secured a massive pre-release deal worth over ₹110 crore, signaling strong buzz in the industry.
Karuppu Pre-Release Business Details
According to reports, the makers of Karuppu have successfully closed deals for music rights along with South and Hindi satellite and OTT rights. These combined agreements have pushed the film’s pre-release business beyond ₹110 crore.
Additionally, theatrical rights for South regions and overseas markets are expected to be finalized soon, which could further boost the film’s overall earnings before release. While reports suggest the film is made on a budget of around ₹130 crore, official confirmation is still awaited.
Karuppu Release Date and Delay
Karuppu is scheduled to hit theatres on May 14, 2026, after facing delays. Earlier, the film was rumored to release during Diwali 2025, but the plan was postponed due to pending post-production work.
Karuppu Cast and Storyline
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead alongside Suriya. The film revolves around a lawyer who becomes possessed by a deity and fights against social injustice.
The supporting cast includes Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu, with RJ Balaji also making a cameo appearance.

The makers recently released the film’s second single titled Naanga Naalu Peru, sung by Silambarasan TR and composed by Sai Abhyankkar. The song has already started gaining traction among fans.
Suriya’s Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Suriya will next be seen in Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. The film is expected to be an emotional romantic drama featuring Mamitha Baiju and Raveena Tandon in key roles, and is slated for release in July 2026.
The actor is also working on a cop action-comedy tentatively titled Suriya47, directed by Jithu Madhavan. The film stars Nazriya Nazim as the co-lead and Naslen in an important role, with rumors suggesting a possible cameo by Silambarasan TR.
