The war drama Border 2, led by Sunny Deol, has officially wrapped up its theatrical run with a worldwide gross of approximately Rs 422 crore. The film, which also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, saw a steady performance at the box office despite not fully meeting sky-high expectations.
Out of the total earnings, the film collected around Rs 366 crore in India, including Rs 306 crore nett, while overseas markets contributed Rs 56 crore.
Strong Opening but Momentum Slows Down
Border 2 opened on a promising note and witnessed significant growth over its first weekend. The film also benefitted from the Republic Day holiday on Monday, recording impressive collections early in its run.
However, the momentum did not sustain in the following weeks. The film experienced sharp drops of nearly 70 percent week-on-week, which prevented it from reaching blockbuster status despite its strong start.
Box Office Verdict and Profitability
Despite the decline after its initial run, Border 2 has been declared a hit at the box office. In key northern regions such as Rajasthan and East Punjab, the film performed exceptionally well and even achieved blockbuster status locally.
Due to its high production and distribution costs, the overall verdict remains in the hit to super hit range. The film has generated an estimated profit of around Rs 30 crore, with potential variations depending on non-theatrical revenue deals.

Expectations vs Reality After Gadar 2 Success
The expectations from Border 2 were significantly influenced by the massive success of Gadar 2, which re-established Sunny Deol as a major box office force. Without that benchmark, the performance of Border 2 would have been considered a major success.
Interestingly, while Gadar 2 was underestimated before release, its blockbuster performance raised expectations for Border 2, making its solid numbers appear comparatively lower.
Final Take on Border 2 Box Office Run
Even though it fell short of blockbuster expectations, Border 2 has delivered a successful run at the box office. It marks another win for Sunny Deol after his recent resurgence and reinforces his strong connect with audiences, especially in mass circuits.
