BYD Song Ultra EV Launched at 152K Yuan with 605 Km Range and Ultra-Fast Charging

Chinese automaker BYD has officially launched the Song Ultra EV, expanding its electric SUV lineup with aggressive pricing and advanced technology. The SUV is priced between 151,900 yuan and 179,900 yuan, which translates to approximately Rs 20.7 lakh to Rs 24.5 lakh.

The Song Ultra EV directly competes with popular electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y, Leapmotor C11, Shangjie H5, and XPeng G6. BYD has positioned this model as a value-driven offering with better space, faster charging, and competitive pricing.

Design and Exterior Highlights

The BYD Song Ultra EV is part of the brand’s Dynasty lineup and follows a modern and clean design philosophy. The front fascia features sleek LED headlamps, sharp DRLs, and a closed-off grille typical of electric vehicles. The sculpted bonnet and aerodynamic elements enhance its premium appeal.

From the side, the SUV gets squared wheel arches, 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, and blacked-out pillars. The gently sloping roofline adds a sporty touch while maintaining practicality.

At the rear, the connected LED tail lamps are inspired by traditional Chinese knot design, giving the SUV a distinctive identity. The metallic accents on the bumper further elevate its sporty styling. The SUV is available in multiple color options including Fire Gray, Snow White, Smoky Purple, Galaxy Beige, Palm Green, and Obsidian Black.

Dimensionally, the Song Ultra EV measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. It offers a boot space of 730 litres, expandable to 1,659 litres, along with a 150-litre front trunk.

Interior, Features and Technology

Inside the cabin, the Song Ultra EV offers a tech-rich and comfortable environment. It comes equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an impressive 26-inch head-up display powered by BYD’s UI 7.0 system.

Comfort features include ventilated and heated front seats, a 10-point massage function, and an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat. The SUV also gets ambient lighting, premium soft-touch materials, and a column-mounted electronic gear shifter.

One standout feature is the ‘bed mode’, which allows the seats to fold flat into a 1.8-meter surface, making it ideal for long journeys or rest stops. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom and flexible seat configurations.

Safety is well covered with seven airbags and advanced driver assistance systems. The optional DiPilot 300 system, equipped with LiDAR and 27 sensors, supports autonomous features like city navigation assist, highway driving assist, and automated parking.

Performance, Range and Charging

The BYD Song Ultra EV is offered with two battery pack options: 68.4 kWh and 82.7 kWh. The smaller battery delivers a range of up to 620 km, while the larger pack offers an impressive range of up to 710 km on a full charge.

Performance is equally strong, with power outputs of 240 kW and 270 kW depending on the variant. All versions are rear-wheel drive and produce 305 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 210 km/h.

A major highlight is BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0 technology, which enables ultra-fast charging. The SUV can charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in approximately 9 minutes, setting a new benchmark in the EV segment.
