BMW M 1000 R Launched in India at ₹33.50 Lakh with 999cc Engine, M Winglets, 206bhp, Features

German luxury motorcycle brand BMW Motorrad has officially launched the BMW M 1000 R in India with an ex-showroom price of ₹33.50 lakh. The high-performance naked superbike arrives in the country through the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

The 2026 model comes with new styling updates, enhanced electronics, and improved performance-focused features, making it one of the most aggressive streetfighter motorcycles available in India. Bookings for the motorcycle have already started across BMW Motorrad dealerships, while deliveries are expected to begin from May 2026.

Aggressive Design with Signature M Winglets

The new BMW M 1000 R gets a sharper and more aggressive design compared to its previous version. One of the biggest highlights is the signature M winglets, which not only improve styling but also enhance aerodynamics.

According to BMW, the winglets can increase front-wheel load by up to 11 kg at speeds of 220 km/h, improving stability during high-speed riding.

Other design highlights include:

  • New dual-flow LED headlight setup
  • Sporty naked streetfighter styling
  • Lightweight body components
  • Signature BMW M racing graphics

These changes give the bike a track-inspired appearance while maintaining its road-focused usability.

Powerful 999cc Inline-Four Engine

The BMW M 1000 R is powered by a 999cc inline-four-cylinder engine derived from BMW’s supersport motorcycles.

Key performance figures include:

  • Engine: 999cc inline-four
  • Maximum power: 206.5 bhp
  • Peak torque: 113 Nm
  • Transmission: 6-speed manual
  • Top speed: 280 km/h

The bike also features fully adjustable front and rear suspension, allowing riders to fine-tune the motorcycle for both road and track conditions.

Updated Electronics and Riding Technology

BMW has also introduced updated electronic systems on the new M 1000 R to improve performance and safety.

The motorcycle now features an updated Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) system, which is derived from BMW’s RR models. This system offers more precise traction control intervention, especially in Race mode.

Another important update is the M Quick-Action Throttle, which reduces the throttle rotation needed to achieve full acceleration. This allows riders to open the throttle faster without putting extra strain on the wrist.

Additional features include:

  • 6.5-inch TFT instrument display
  • Quickshifter
  • Wheelie control
  • Engine brake control
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

M Competition Package Upgrades

BMW has also expanded the M Competition Package for the BMW M 1000 R, adding several premium and performance-oriented components.

These include:

  • M Carbon wheels
  • Carbon fibre body panels
  • Carbon airbox cover
  • Carbon chain guard
  • Adjustable milled rearset footrests
  • M GPS Laptimer

These additions make the bike even more appealing to riders who want track-level performance with a streetfighter design.

Colours and Availability

The BMW M 1000 R is available in three colour options in India:

  • Light White / M Motorsport
  • White Aluminium Metallic Matte
  • Blackstorm Metallic / M Motorsport

Bookings are currently open at BMW Motorrad showrooms across India, and customer deliveries will start from May 2026.

The motorcycle will compete with high-performance naked bikes like the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory in the Indian market.
